About
Phuthanang
For over 30 years, we have been promoting dignity, skills development, and economic participation for persons with disabilities in Tsakane, Ekurhuleni.
Our Journey
Through the Years
Founded in a Zozo Hut
Phuthanang Protective Workshop was established, starting operations in a Zozo hut at Tsakane Main Clinic with a bold mission to serve persons with disabilities.
Land Granted by Town Council
The local Town Council granted land at 7522 Hlakwane Street, Tsakane. The Department of Labour built our first structure with a kitchen, workshop, admin office, hall, and ABET classroom.
Demolished & Rebuilt
After 15 years, the original building had deteriorated. The workshop was demolished and a new facility was constructed to better serve our growing community.
Reopened Next to Tsakane Clinic
The workshop reopened in a new, accessible location next to Tsakane Clinic. Today we have a safe environment with full-time security, admin office, sewing/embroidery workshop, kitchen and dining area.
Growing Into the Future
With R100,000 in materials funding from Gauteng Enterprise Propeller and continued government partnerships, we continue expanding our impact for persons with disabilities.
